It is a simple story.
In the early 2000s, two visionaries—one from education, the other from healthcare—shared a dream: to create a place where children with special needs would be understood, supported, and celebrated. Seeing the lack of individualized opportunities, they founded Saint Clare School for Special Education in July 2007.
Starting with a small group of students, dedicated teachers, and supportive parents, the founders built more than a school—they built a community. They wore many hats, from teaching to fundraising, driven by an unwavering belief in every child’s potential.
From its inception, Saint Clare’s philosophy centered on individualization. Small classes and collaboration among teachers, therapists, psychologists, and families ensured that each student
received personalized care. This holistic approach nurtured not only academic progress but also social and emotional growth.
As the school expanded, it introduced sensory rooms, accessible playgrounds, and a Day Activity Centre. Vocational training, technology, and community partnerships further empowered students through vocational exploration, art shows, and performances.
Now approaching its 20th anniversary in 2027, Saint Clare continues to stand as a beacon of compassion and inclusion—guided by its founding values of dignity, respect, and belief in every child’s potential.
From the Principal’s Desk
Dear Parents, Students and Visitors,
Welcome to Saint Clare School for Special Education! My name is Prakalathan Kelaver, and I am honored and privileged to serve the students, staff, and parents as the principal at Saint Clare School. They are embraced by a community of teachers, administrators, and parents who ensure Saint Clare School is a place where children “feel safe, are loved, and enjoy learning.” Our school continues to strive toward excellent student achievement in a positive and caring environment.
A common thread throughout our school is the strong teaching staff and support personnel. We are very fortunate to have an incredible group of teachers and therapists who work collaboratively to ensure we meet the needs of all our students. All of the support personnel care deeply for the health and welfare of our students. Together they are a team of caring individuals who strive every day for our children to be good students and citizens.
Children are the priority at Saint Clare School. Student achievement is our primary goal, which is met through various teaching strategies tailored to meet the individual needs of our students. Our dedicated and hardworking teachers provide our students with an enriching and nurturing environment. You will not find a more committed staff that truly has the love of children in their hearts.
