Speech Therapy
Empowering Communication, One Word at a Time
At Saint Clare School, we believe that every child deserves the ability to express themselves clearly, confidently, and meaningfully. Our Speech Therapy service supports students who experience difficulties with communication — whether it’s verbal, non-verbal, or social.
With the help of our in-house speech-language therapist, students work on improving their ability to understand language, speak effectively, and engage with those around them. These are not just academic skills — they are life skills that build confidence, connection, and independence.
Who Speech Therapy Supports
Our speech therapy sessions are tailored to students with:
Delayed speech and language development
Difficulty pronouncing sounds or words clearly
Limited verbal expression or vocabulary
Challenges understanding or following instructions
Social communication differences (e.g., initiating conversations, taking turns)
Non-verbal communication needs (e.g., gestures, eye contact, AAC tools)
Speech therapy is available for all programme levels and is provided independently of each student’s Individualised Education Programme (IEP). Students attend pull-out sessions as needed to work on their specific speech and communication goals.
What Students Learn
Speech therapy at Saint Clare goes beyond just speech drills. Depending on each child’s needs, our therapist supports areas such as:
Receptive Language – understanding words, sentences, and instructions
Expressive Language – forming words, phrases, and meaningful communication
Articulation and Clarity – improving how sounds and words are pronounced
Social Communication – using language appropriately in different settings
Alternative Communication – using visuals or technology when verbal speech is limited
How Therapy Is Delivered
Our speech therapy sessions are delivered in a supportive, structured setting — individually or in small groups. Our therapist works closely with teachers and families to ensure communication goals are reinforced across school and home settings.
Because therapy is delivered through dedicated pull-out sessions, students receive focused, consistent support, with structured opportunities to practice new skills in social and academic contexts.
Why Communication Matters
For many of our students, being able to express needs, emotions, and ideas can be life-changing. Speech therapy helps bridge that gap — building not just language, but self-esteem and social connection.
