Vocational Programme

Practical Skills for Real-Life Independence

The Vocational Programme at Saint Clare School is designed for students aged 21 and above who are ready to take the next step toward greater independence and community participation. Grounded in structure, compassion, and purposeful skill-building, this programme supports students as they develop the practical knowledge and confidence needed for daily living and employment readiness.

Our goal is to help students not just learn, but apply skills in real-world settings — whether at home, in the community, or the workplace.

Who Is This Programme For?

This programme is ideal for students who:

  • Have completed foundational academic or pre-vocational training

  • Need structured guidance in building life and work-related skills

  • May benefit from supported pathways into employment or community integration

What Students Will Learn

Our vocational curriculum focuses on seven key areas that support functional independence and real-world adaptability:

  • Language & Literacy: Communication for daily interaction, basic workplace dialogue, and understanding instructions.

  • Mathematics: Practical skills such as time-telling, money handling, and measurements used in daily life or job tasks.

  • Personal Health & Hygiene: Lessons in self-care, grooming, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle routines.

  • Science in Everyday Life: Simple concepts related to safety, hygiene, environment, and basic technology.

  • Vocational & Career Development: Exposure to tasks such as sorting, packaging, customer interaction, and other entry-level work roles.

  • Social Communication: Learning appropriate ways to engage with others, follow routines, and build confidence in group settings.

  • Social-Emotional Skills: Recognising emotions, managing frustration, building self-esteem, and navigating challenges calmly.

Our programme also includes community-based learning and, where suitable, non-traditional job placements to give students safe, real-world experience. Each learning path is adapted to individual ability levels and closely monitored for progress.

Our Approach

With a low student-to-staff ratio, structured daily routines, and the support of our in-house therapists, students receive individualised attention and guidance every step of the way. We place strong emphasis on consistency, repetition, and positive reinforcement, ensuring that what is learned in the classroom can be transferred into everyday life.
