Occupational Therapy

Building Everyday Skills Through Purposeful Practice

At Saint Clare School, our Occupational Therapy (OT) services are a key part of the holistic support we provide to students with special needs. With the guidance of our in-house occupational therapist, students learn the functional skills needed to participate more independently in school, at home, and in daily life.

Occupational therapy supports children in building confidence, coordination, and control — helping them engage more meaningfully with the world around them.

What Our OT Sessions Focus On

Our Occupational Therapy (OT) support is personalised for each child but is independent of their Individualised Education Programme (IEP). Students who require OT attend dedicated pull-out sessions outside their regular classes. Depending on the student’s needs, therapy may focus on:

  • Fine Motor Skills – writing, cutting, buttoning clothes

  • Gross Motor Skills – balance, posture, movement coordination

  • Sensory Integration – regulating responses to touch, sound, and movement

  • Self-Care and Daily Routines – dressing, feeding, grooming, toileting

  • Focus and Task Management – attention span, task completion, classroom readiness

How Therapy Is Delivered

Therapy at Saint Clare is provided through scheduled sessions during the school day. Our occupational therapist works closely with students in short pull-out sessions. This allows your child to learn and apply skills in natural settings — where progress can be immediate, relevant, and reinforced by both teachers and therapists.

Why Occupational Therapy Matters

Every child learns differently — and some need support with more than just academics. Occupational therapy helps remove physical and sensory barriers so that students can feel more in control, more capable, and more confident as they grow.
